trust deserves
a digital wharē.

iho Core. Essence. The umbilical cord that connects us to where we come from. That is why we named it Iho.

We are building this on our own whenua first. Proving it works for our own whānau. Then bringing it to yours. Register your interest and be part of what comes next.

Have you and your whānau ever stood on your whenua and wondered what it could become?

The feeling is real. The vision is there. But then comes the question that stops most whānau in their tracks.

Where do we even start?

Whenua with maunga and ocean, Aotearoa

You start with the whare.

Before anything else, the whare is the foundation. It is where your whānau gathers, where decisions are made, where the plan gets built. Get the foundation right and everything else becomes possible.

Your digital wharē is that foundation. The central hub from which the whole picture gets mapped, resourced and built. One step at a time, at your pace, with your whānau leading every decision.

Māra kai

For some whānau, the whenua can grow food that feeds the family and perhaps creates income over time. Every piece of land tells its own story

Papakāinga

Whānau living on their own land, close to each other and their tūpuna. For trusts with the right whenua, this is a powerful possibility

Kaimoana

Where the whenua meets the sea there may be opportunity to harvest and share the way your tūpuna did. Not every trust will have this. Those that do carry something precious

Mahi and income

What could your whenua support? Markets, food, local business, shared skills. Every trust is different. Your digital wharē helps you see what is possible for yours

Whakapapa and history

Stories, land records and identity preserved so every generation knows where they come from and what they are part of

Skills and knowledge

Raranga, tikanga, te reo, kaimoana practices. Knowledge passed on through doing, not lost when our kaumātua are no longer with us

These are examples drawn from our own whenua. We are not saying your trust will do these things. We are saying that once you have the right foundation, you will be able to see what your whenua holds for the first time.

I want this for my trust
Hono i mua. Returning to the ancestral way
Your tūpuna
thrived this way.

They harvested from the sea, grew from the land, shared everything with their people. That knowledge is still alive in us. Iho is how we carry it forward. For the next generation and the one after that.

Hono i mua, hono i muri

Connecting the past,
the present and the future.

We are not inventing something new. We are returning to something true. With modern tools in our hands.

MuaThe past
Your tūpuna knew how

They grew kai, harvested kaimoana, lived on the whenua and passed knowledge through doing. The land and the people were one and the same. That knowledge has not gone. It is waiting.

Tūpuna harvesting kaimoana at dawn
ĀianeiThe present
The whenua is still yours

The land is there. The kaimoana may be there. The maunga is standing. What has been missing is the structure, the connection and the tools to be able to see it clearly and act on it together.

Māra kai on the whenua today
ĀmuriThe future
Your mokopuna inherit something whole

What if they inherited a complete record of the land, the stories, the decisions. What if they knew exactly what had been built and why. Whatever your whenua holds, they deserve to know it. And build on it.

Kaumātua sharing whakapapa and stories with tamariki

Every whānau has stories
worth protecting.

Iho keeps them safe. For the generations still to come.

He aha te digital wharē

What is a
digital wharē?

A digital wharē is your whānau trust's private online home. A secure place that brings everything together. Accessible to every whānau member, wherever they are in the world.

Think of it as the marae of your digital world. A place to gather, to share, to preserve and to act. Built around the specific needs of your trust and your whānau.

Understand your land

Your trust's land blocks, shares and succession laid out clearly. Know exactly what your whānau owns, where it is and what needs to happen with it.

Lands research
Find what you may be owed

Unclaimed dividends, succession entitlements and other benefits that may have been sitting untouched for years. Our research tools help surface what most trusts never knew existed.

Unclaimed interests
Explore funding sources

Your digital wharē includes a built-in grants research tool that helps your trust identify and explore funding sources that may be relevant to your situation and goals.

Grants research
Reconnect your whānau

Whānau living away stay connected through your private portal. Every decision, every update, every opportunity shared in one trusted space. No one left out of the loop.

Connection
Preserve your history

Your whakapapa, stories, photographs and land history kept safe for every generation ahead. What your kaumātua carry in memory. Recorded, protected and passed on.

Whakapapa
Help whānau get online

Your portal can surface local digital access support for whānau who are not yet connected. Programmes that help people get online exist in many regions. Your wharē helps surface what is available near your whānau.

Digital access

This model grows with you. Everything built for a whānau trust can extend to a marae, a hapū or an iwi. The foundations are the same. The application is yours to shape.

What becomes possible

These are examples.
Your whenua has
its own story.

Every whānau trust is different. Every piece of whenua is different. What we share here comes from our own experience on our own land. We are not saying your trust will do these things. We are saying these things became visible to us once we had the tools to look properly.

Your digital wharē is where that seeing begins.

🌱
💻
Kai and growing food

On our whenua we saw the possibility of growing food to sustain our whānau and perhaps generate income over time. Your land may offer something similar or something completely different. Your digital wharē helps you understand what you have and connect to support for it.

🏡
💻
Whānau living on the land

Not every trust has land that can support housing. But for those that do, papakāinga is a powerful possibility. Your digital wharē brings together the land records and succession information that make those conversations possible.

🌊
💻
Kaimoana and the sea

Where the whenua meets the sea there may be opportunity to harvest and share the way your tūpuna did. Not every trust will have this. Those that do carry something precious.

🤝
💻
Keeping whānau connected

Whānau living away still have a stake in the whenua. Your digital wharē keeps them in the loop on every decision and every opportunity so the trust belongs to all of them, not just those physically present.

📜
💻
Whakapapa and history

The vision is rooted in who you are and where you come from. Your digital wharē preserves the stories, the land history and the whakapapa that give your whenua its meaning and its mana.

📖
💻
Skills and knowledge

Raranga, māra kai, kaimoana practices, tikanga, te reo. Your digital wharē is where that knowledge lives, where tamariki can find it and where the next generation inherits it with intention.

We do not know exactly what your whenua holds. But we know you deserve the tools to find out.

The reality

These are challenges
many whānau trusts
know well.

Iho was built because we lived these challenges from the inside of our own whānau trust. If any of this sounds familiar. You are not alone.

🙈
No transparency

Whānau have no visibility of what the trust owns, what decisions are made, or where the money goes. Over time trust breaks down.

📡
Whānau disconnected

Important news travels by word of mouth or not at all. Beneficiaries living away feel cut off from their own trust and their own land.

💸
Money no one knows about

Unclaimed dividends, succession entitlements and funding sources that no one has applied for. Resources sitting untouched for years.

🧠
Knowledge that disappears

The trust's history lives in one kaumātua's memory. When they pass, decades of whakapapa and knowledge goes with them.

📦
No proper records

Documents, court orders and minutes scattered across shoeboxes, inboxes and old hard drives. Nothing in one place, nothing backed up.

🌱
Whenua with untapped potential

Many trusts hold whenua that could be doing more for their whānau. Without the right information and tools, it is hard to even know where to begin.

Sound familiar? That is exactly why Iho was built. Register your interest and be part of what comes next.

Our story
Donna Smith, founder of Iho
"I am building this for our own whānau and whenua first. Because the only honest way to bring something to your people is to prove it works at home. That is what Iho is. Built from the inside out, with aroha."

Donna SmithFounder, Iho. Trustee, whānau trust. Ngāi Te Rangi, Tauwhao hapū.

Iho was created from my personal journey of reconnecting with my whānau, my whenua, my whakapapa, my culture and my people. I know these challenges. I have lived them. I watched our trust struggle for years with no accessible records, no way to keep whānau informed, no guidance on what support was available or what our land held. So I built a digital wharē for our own trust first. Now I want to bring it to as many whānau trusts across Aotearoa as we can.

Iho is in pilot right now. Being built and proven on our own whenua. We are not open to everyone yet. But we are building the list of whānau trusts who want to be part of this when we are ready.

Every trust that registers is a real whānau that has said yes, we want this. That list matters. It tells the story of how much demand exists across Aotearoa for something that has never properly existed before.
